Women’s Super League leaders Manchester City host second-placed Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
And head coach Andree Jeglertz has detailed what he wants to see from his players – especially as they look to respond to their defeat at the hands of the same opponents in the Subway Women’s League Cup semi-final last week.
“What I expect [from the players], they expect from each other,” he said in his pre-match press conference. “First of all, being fortunate to play these kind of games for these players, also.
“Also being in the situation which we have created being top of the league, nine points ahead, it has to be enjoyment from the players to step out on the field on Sunday.
“It definitely has to be the first thing. We’ll do everything we can to win the game.
“We lost to Chelsea one and a half weeks ago and the first game in the league so there has to be a part of a revenge feeling that now it’s time to get those three points.
“Those are the key things for us.”
Jeglertz is in his first season at the club and looking to lead City to their first title in a decade.
“For me and many of the players it hasn’t always been in this situation before,” he added.
“For us, what we speak about is more like we’re taking this game now and we’ve been good in that all the time [taking one game at a time].
“Not thinking what has happened in history, what is the background, what is going to happen next – if you start doing that too much it can affect the players.
“We’ve done a great season in many perspectives and we have a great confidence in what we’ve been doing so it’s a good opportunity to play them.”
