The Spaniard is currently in charge of Valencia, but a run of poor form in recent weeks has left his position with the club in a precarious position.

The top flight side have failed to win any of their last seven La Liga matches, leaving them 17th in the table going into the November international break.

The 42-year-old has previously worked in England with the likes of Huddersfield Town and West Brom, where he earned a reputation as a very promising coach.

It has been reported by El Desmarque that Middlesbrough are considering an approach for Corberan following Rob Edwards’ move to Wolves, which has left them second in the Championship table but without a head coach.

Corberan has claimed that his focus is on turning things around at Valencia amid their decline in form in recent weeks.

He has made no indication that he is interested in taking over at the Riverside, reaffirming his commitment to the Spanish side during this difficult period.

“All I can say about any rumours is that I am fully committed to turning this situation around,” said Corberan, via El Desmarque.

“We are going to give our all to turn this situation around because nothing hurts us more than seeing Valencia like this.”

It is understood that Boro would have to pay a compensation fee to Valencia if they were to appoint Corberan.

However, it is yet unclear whether the 42-year-old would be willing to take over at this time, with his contract with the Spanish side running until the summer of 2027.

Middlesbrough are in the mix for promotion to the Premier League this season, with the team currently second in the table.

A 2-1 win over Birmingham City last weekend moved them back ahead of Stoke City, ending a winless run of four games.

The Teesside outfit will be back in action on 22 November with a trip to face Oxford United in a 3pm kick-off.

Carlos Corberan appointment would be great for Middlesbrough

The timing could work out well for Middlesbrough if Valencia opt to change manager and get rid of Corberan in the next couple of weeks amid this poor run of form.

The Spaniard would be an excellent appointment by the Championship side given his impressive track record at this level.

He brought both Huddersfield and West Brom to the play-offs, including to a final during his time with the former.

Given their standing in the division, Middlesbrough would feel good about Corberan potentially guiding the club to the Premier League, if they could convince him to join the club.
