Owen Otasowie’s rapid rise at Wolves stalled just as quickly, and at 25 the New York-born midfielder, capped at senior international level, has not played professionally since a final run-out for Club Brugge’s reserves, two years on from his Wolves debut.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, he moved from the US to London to live with family, joined Wolves’ academy after taking up football in his early teens, progressed through the ranks, and, at Club Brugge, it was alleged the club stopped paying him after repeated absences without leave.

He made his senior bow against Besiktas in the Europa League. A Premier League debut off the bench at Chelsea followed, when he set up Daniel Podence, before a first start away to Burnley in December 2020.

Highly rated at Molineux, he was offered a new contract and was linked with Arsenal, Liverpool, PSG and Juventus. He rejected the deal and joined Club Brugge for a reported £3.5m.

He made two first-team outings, one in the league, and featured four times for Club NXT, and was at one stage linked with loans to Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday.

He has since kept a low profile. Wolves fans have recently circulated X clips from TikTok showing him in fashion videos, and he is said to have started a clothing label. He has also modelled for Burberry, and, once described by former academy boss Scott Sellars as an interesting character, it seems unlikely he will return to the game soon.
