Alongside German club Wolfsburg, Burnley were said to be interested in a move for Sargent, according to Pink Un's Sam Seaman.

The Canaries had reportedly set a firm valuation of around £20m for Sargent earlier in the window, which caused Wolfsburg's deal to collapse - and they subsequently pulled out of the race to sign him. In the 24/25 Championship season, Sargent scored 15 goals and managed 5 assists, appearing in 32 second-tier matches.

Wolfsburg's final offer was apparently worth €19m, and the German outfit have since decided to keep Danish striker Jonas Wind at the club.

Norwich City braced for Josh Sargent offers

Burnley are reportedly the only other club to make contact with Norwich over the possibility of securing Sargent's services, as per the Pink Un.

The Clarets' top scorer last season, Josh Brownhill - who scored three more than Sargent (18), announced on social media he was leaving the club.

With this in mind, it's perhaps surprising for Burnley fans when they find out Pink Un report the Lancashire-based outfit are yet to table an offer that is close to Norwich's valuation of Josh Sargent.

Even though the Wolfsburg deal fell through, Norwich are said to be waiting for a bidding war - and there are other Premier League sides reportedly ready to pounce.

Sargent signed a contract until 2028 two years ago, meaning the Canaries are under no pressure to sell.

Norwich's sporting director, Ben Knapper, has been clear about Norwich's stance, telling BBC Radio Norfolk, "Josh is always going to command big interest.

"There are big clubs in the big five leagues who are expressing a lot of interest in him and he is also ambitious. We're ambitious as a club and we try to attract ambitious players and then its difficult for us to hold that against them. It has to work for us," Knapper added.

Danish international Mathias Kvistgaarden, who was signed for £6.9m from Brondby, suggests the Canaries have already moved to secure Sargent's potential replacement, although he is comfortable on the left - where Borja Sainz played, who has moved to FC Porto for a reported £14.25m.

Sargent's record speaks for itself at second-tier level, but questions remain about his Premier League credentials. In his only top-flight campaign with Norwich in 21/22, the American managed just two goals in 26 appearances - though he was younger and playing out of position.

Ultimately, it seems as though if Burnley don't offer close to Norwich's valuation, another Premier League side will be poised to snap Sargent up.

The collapse of the Wolfsburg deal may have given the Clarets renewed hope, but the Canaries don't seem to be moving with their asking price at all.
