Manchester City’s transfer interest in Nottingham Forest and England international Morgan Gibbs-White is unlikely to be affected by other well-reported arrivals.
Hugo Viana and Txiki Begiristain are currently hard at work in preparing a stronger squad at Pep Guardiola’s disposal for the new campaign, with various positions under analysis and set for reinforcement.
In defence, there is a belief in various quarters that Manchester City’s leading recruitment officials will be targeting signings at both left and right-back, while further forward there is due to be attention in the No.8 role.
Most notably however, Kevin De Bruyne’s exit and anticipated free transfer to Napoli has opened up space for a new creator to come into the side, with interest in numerous profiles throughout the European game.
Following chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak’s comments regarding new signings arriving prior to the FIFA Club World Cup, big developments are expected over the course of the next 10 days as the summer transfer window opens early for a period of time.
According to the information of Manchester City insider ‘Tolmie’s Hairdoo‘ on X, Etihad Stadium officials now have agreements with both Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders over moves to the club this summer.
While many have wondered what sort of knock-on effect either arrival could have on other targets, the report insists that Manchester City still want to sign Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White.
With significant progress made on the former two talents, there has been little in the way of concrete developments surrounding the City Ground’s England international star, who is likely to be the most expensive of the three names.
Amid expected interest from the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United, negotiations from the side of Manchester City and Nottingham Forest would likely centre around a fee in excess of £70 million, particularly given his importance to his current side.
Beyond the midfield roles, City bosses could look towards the likes of Wolves’ Rayan Ait-Nouri and Newcastle United’s Tino Livramento as reinforcements in defence, but a deal for either player is unlikely to be cheap nor straightforward.
