Though they currently sit in sixth place in the Serie A standings, Roma currently have control of the race for a spot in next season’s Champions League and will overtake Juventus and Lazio into fourth place if they are able to beat Atalanta in the league on Monday night.
Here is a look at what the Giallorossi need to claim fourth place in Serie A.
As things stand on Sunday morning, there are four teams separated by just two points, all of whom are still in with a chance of qualifying for the Champions League with two or three Serie A fixtures left to play.

Juventus currently sit in fourth spot on 64 points, level with Lazio in fifth, while Roma, who have played one game less, sit in sixth on 63 points, one point and one position above Bologna on 62.
Juventus missed an opportunity to move clear of Lazio after conceding a 96th minute equaliser to settle a 1-1 draw when the two teams met at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday. Bologna were beaten 3-1 by Milan on Friday night.

Roma will go up against Atalanta in Bergamo on Monday night, and will claim fourth spot with two games to go if they are able to beat Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.
If Roma draw with Atalanta, they will be level on points with Juventus and Lazio, and will move into fifth place behind Juventus and above Lazio if that is the case.
Head-to-head record is the first determining factor in this scenario, and then goal difference. Roma and Juve are level on head-to-head after 0-0 and 1-1 draws this season, but the Bianconeri have a +2 advantage over the Giallorossi on goal difference as things stand. Roma are ahead of Lazio on head-to-head after a 2-0 victory and 0-0 draw earlier this season.

If Roma beat Atalanta on Monday, then they will have a two-point buffer over Juventus and Lazio, three over Bologna. That means that a win and a draw from their final two matches of the season will be enough to mathematically secure a spot in the top four.
If Roma draw with Atalanta on Monday, they will move into fifth and will need to either gain one point more than Juventus from their final two matches of the season, or, to finish level on points with Juventus and gain +3 more than the Old Lady on goal difference in the final two games of the season.
If Roma lose against Atalanta on Monday, the table will remain as it is on Sunday morning, which will leave the Giallorossi needing two points more than both Juventus and Lazio from the final two games of the season if they are to finish in the Champions League places.
