Leicester City’s 2-2 draw with Preston featured a flashpoint when Patson Daka was hauled down, but advantage meant Jordan Storey was booked rather than sent off.

LeicesterMercury.co.uk points out that Law 12 says if advantage is played for denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity, the offender is cautioned for unsporting behaviour when play next stops.

Daka looked set to reach Ricardo Pereira’s through ball with no covering defenders when Storey bundled him over. The loose ball fell to Oliver Skipp, who carried it into the box and tried a dink, saved by Daniel Iversen.

With the ball then out for a corner, referee Benjamin Speedie returned to caution Storey, in line with the law. City players had earlier appealed for a dismissal.

Manager Gary Rowett had few complaints. He said a red card could be argued, but with Skipp running through he would not expect play to be pulled back, and if City had scored there would have been no complaints.
