Egyptian captain says promises were broken

What went wrong between Salah & Slot? The comments that shook Liverpool
Mohamed Salah has launched his strongest public criticism of Liverpool since joining in 2017 revealing he feels “sacrificed” and “abandoned” after being benched for the third consecutive Premier League match in the 3-3 draw away to Leeds United.
The Egyptian did not play single minute at Elland Road despite Liverpool having one substitution remaining and the Reds throwing away the lead twice in the final 15 minute.
“We needed control, not goals. We needed different players, like Endo, to protect our lead.”
“I can’t believe I stayed on the bench for the whole match. It’s the third game in a row. This has never happened in my career.”
“I feel the club is sacrificing me. I did so much for them and this is how I am treated.”
Salah went even further admitting his relationship with Slot has broken down:
“I said before we had a good relationship. Suddenly we don’t. I don’t understand the reason.”
“I feel people at the club don’t want me here anymore.”
Sources inside Liverpool earlier briefed that Salah & Slot had “no problem,” but Salah’s remarks paint a very different picture and signal deep internal rift.
After the final whistle, Liverpool fans chanted his name. Salah walked to the travelling supporters, applauded, touched his chest and gave what many interpreted as discreet farewell gesture.
He later told reporters that he called his mother to attend next Saturday’s match against Brighton:
“I will enjoy it whether I play or not. I will say goodbye before going to AFCON. I don’t know what happens after that.”
When asked directly whether Brighton could be his last game for Liverpool, Salah replied:
“Nothing is guaranteed in football. I don’t accept what is happening to me.”
Salah’s comments mark the biggest rupture between the player and Liverpool since he arrived in 2017.
This is not tactical debate anymore.. it is an institutional crisis.
Egypt fans will be concerned as Salah enters the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco under:
However history suggests Salah often turns adversity into motivation and AFCON may now become his platform to prove point, both to Liverpool & to Europe.
