Wellington Tim, the surprise pick in Santos’s 2020 Libertadores final, is now at São Bernardo, announced on 8 January. He now goes by Wellington Manzoli.
According to Diario Do Peixe, the Rio de Janeiro-born centre-back and left-back was on loan from Criciúma to the under-20s and was promoted for lack of cover for Felipe Jonatan.
He made his senior debut on 26 January 2021, coming on at half-time in a 2-0 defeat to Atlético-MG in round 28 of the 2020 Brasileiro. In the final on 30 January 2021, he entered at 47 minutes of the second half and his error led to the only goal, handing Palmeiras the title.
After that he dropped ‘Tim’ and became Wellington Manzoli. He featured twice more in the 2021 Paulistão, a half-time sub in a 2-1 win over Inter de Limeira on 18 April, then a start and red for two yellows in a 2-0 loss to Corinthians on 25 April. He later returned to youth ranks before release.
He had joined on loan in October 2020 through December 2021, though the club put him on leave and cut ties in October. The buy option was R$ 800,000 for 50 percent of his rights.
He returned to Criciúma, signed for Almeria in Spain but did not play, moved to Feirense in Portugal then joined them permanently, featured twice before a termination. Back in Brazil he played for Boavista-RJ, then for Paranavaí, Amazonas and Londrina, now São Bernardo. He turns 25 in June.
