As the summer transfer window enters the final month, the top five clubs in Serie A still need to complete their teams, so here’s what to expect from Napoli, Inter, Juventus, Roma and Milan in the coming days.

Every director in Serie A is working non-stop to strengthen their teams for the 2025-26 campaign, and with barely a month left before the end of negotiations on September 1, here’s what the top five clubs in Italy need.

Napoli

Defending champions Napoli have been arguably the busiest team this summer, having already welcomed six new players: Kevin De Bruyne, Sam Beukema, Noa Lang, Lorenzo Lucca, Vanja Milinkovic-Savic and Luca Marianucci. It’s no secret that Antonio Conte aims to complete the team with one more winger this summer, and with Dan Ndoye off to Nottingham Forest, the defending champions have set their sights on Federico Chiesa, Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling, while Alejandro Garnacho no longer seems to be on their agenda.

Inter

The 2024-25 runners-up have signed Petar Sucic, Luis Henrique and Ange-Yoan Bonny, but still need to sign a centre-back, a central midfielder and a striker. Their priority is surely Ademola Lookman, but their latest offer for Atalanta was still insufficient. As for defence and midfield, the Nerazzurri may need to sell some of their players before discussing potential new buys. Kristjan Asllani is not part of Cristian Chivu’s plans, but the Albanian midfielder wants to remain in Serie A and has snubbed a permanent €15m transfer to Real Betis. According to reports in Italy, the Nerazzurri are ready to listen to offers for defenders Yann Bisseck and Benjamin Pavard.

Juventus

On paper, the Bianconeri squad is complete with two players in each position, which, however, doesn’t mean the Old Lady will end their transfer campaign with the sole acquisitions of Jonathan David and João Mario. As we already pointed out in June, coach Igor Tudor still needs a centre-back, a central midfielder, an attacking midfielder, a right wing-back and a centre-forward. Yet again, the Bianconeri will need to offload some of their players before focusing on summer reinforcements. The Serie A giants are ready to sell Timothy Weah, Dusan Vlahovic, Lloyd Kelly and Douglas Luiz, among others, but are still waiting for suitable offers.

Roma

New coach Gian Piero Gasperini has repeatedly urged the club to bring in more reinforcements, suggesting that his Roma still needs four or five new faces after welcoming Neil El Aynaou, Wesley, Evan Ferguson and Devis Vasquez. Corriere dello Sport reported earlier this week that the Giallorossi are still looking for a centre-back to replace Marash Kumbulla and/or Mario Hermoso, a right-footed attacking midfielder, a central midfielder and a left wing-back. As for the centre-back role, Verona’s Daniele Ghilardi is on the verge of moving to the Stadio Olimpico.

Milan

The Rossoneri have already welcomed Luka Modric, Samuele Ricci and Pervis Estupiñán, but still need a centre-forward, a central midfielder and a right-back, provided that nobody else leaves after Tijjani Reijnders and Theo Hernandez. Reinforcements on the right flank, in central midfield and attack are likely to arrive regardless of any departure, while further reinforcements on the wings and central defence will only come if some players in the same positions leave, as Tare said in June. The priority in central midfielder is Ardon Jashari, who wants to move to San Siro “at all costs” according to club President Paolo Scaroni, while Juventus’ Vlahovic is a hot name on their agenda, which, as per Gazzetta, also includes the likes of Gonçalo Ramos and Victor Boniface.
