Come on then, own up, which genius at the Newcastle United ticket office came up with this cunning plan?

Got my usual knockback around 11am on Wednesday morning for the latest home ticket ballot.

This time for Brentford.

Just proves yet again how mental the demand is for tickets these days.

A midweek match against non-glamourous opposition who will bring a minibus of away fans, meaning at least a couple of thousand extra for Newcastle United fans.

Yet still the usual ballot knockback.

Anyway, this is what the club email said this morning…

‘Unfortunately, your application for the Member Ticket Ballot has been unsuccessful for our game against Brentford.

There will be another opportunity for tickets for this fixture through our Member General Sale.

This opens on Monday 17 March at 10am. These tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis and are not guaranteed.’

Brilliant, just brilliant.

At 10am on Monday morning I will be…

At best, still out drinking in London, not having been to bed.

At worst, heading back to Newcastle Upon Tyne with a massive hangover, caused partly by the drink, but mainly by losing in the Cup Final.

Honestly, having a ticket sale for the next Newcastle United home match only 15 hours after this Carabao Cup Final has the final whistle blown on it.

Any common sense or consideration for Newcastle United fans? (By the way, in my desperation as a Newcastle United member who couldn’t get a Wembley ticket from the normal allocation, I and my mates in the same boat have got our Cup Final tickets from a reselling site. Ironically/sadly, each of us paying more for our Wembley ticket than anybody pays for a season ticket at St James’ Park!)
