Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund is no longer wanted by a club that was reportedly hot on his trail earlier in the summer.
The Dane is coming off a miserable campaign on all levels. While the Red Devils sank to new lows, finishing 15th in the table, the 22-year-old’s struggles in front of goal have become synonymous with the current banter era that the club is enduring.
The centre-forward only found the back of the net on four occasions in the previous Premier League campaign, and has been described as a ‘shattered’ player by Stan Collymore in his column for CaughtOffside.
Despite his Man Utd struggles, Hojlund remains an appreciated profile in Serie A, mostly thanks to his promising one-year stint at Atalanta in the 2022/23 campaign.
Several top Italian clubs have reportedly shown interest in the player, including Juventus and Napoli. However, Inter Milan were depicted as the Danish star’s staunchest suitor, reportedly making contact with Man Utd as well as the player’s entourage.
But according to The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell, the Champions League finalists have ended their interest in the misfiring United striker.

As the source explains, Inter have already signed young Parma striker Ange-Yoan Bonny, adding him their attacking ranks, which already includes Marcus Thuram and club captain Lautaro Martinez.
The Nerazzurri also have Mehdi Taremi on their books (although he’s being tipped to leave), and they’re also planning to keep 19-year-old Italian bomber, Francesco Pio Esposito, at Cristian Chivu’s disposal.
Therefore, the former Atalanta star is no longer needed at San Siro, which might serve as a blow for Man United.
Even though Hojlund isn’t one of the five players omitted from Ruben Amorim’s plans, it is believed that INEOS were open to selling him, in order to raise transfer funds for a new and improved striker.
Nevertheless, there remains some hope for MUFC, as Roma have recently emerged as a new possible destination for Hojlund who would be reunited with his former Atalanta boss, Gian Piero Gasperini.
