England have been struck down by various injuries, with Sarina Wiegman forced to call-up new stars.

Lionesses debutants

Lucia Kendall

Kendall has been one of Villa’s brightest stars this season since she arrived to the WSL from Southampton in summer.

The 21-year-old was on the bench for her first league game of the season but after that Kendall has been a consistent starter for Villa.

There is more competition in midfield than any other position for the Lionesses and it is unlikely that Kendall will start either of England’s upcoming friendlies against Brazil or Australia.

With that being said, Jess Park and Grace Clinton both withdrew from the national team with injuries this week.

Sarina Wiegman is slightly short on options in the middle of the pitch now and it would be a surprise for Kendall to not at least feature off her bench for a senior England debut.

Grace Fisk

Liverpool’s new permanent club captain earned a surprise call-up to the Lionesses squad this month.

Grace Fisk was a late inclusion for Wiegman’s squad after Arsenal defender Katie Reid was forced to withdraw due to injury.

While Liverpool have been dreadful to start their campaign, Fisk has proved to be a reliable force at the back and she has certainly earned her spot in the England squad.

Although she is a late call-up for the Lionesses there is a good chance Fisk could start in one of the friendlies.

England have been hit hard by injuries in defence with Reid’s late scratch, Leah Williamson still out and Millie Bright retiring from international football following Euro 2025.

There is a good chance that Alex Greenwood plays full-back for the upcoming friendlies which would mean two fairly inexperienced defenders starting in the middle.

Fisk could be handed a huge chance at centre-back as the 27-year-old finally gets her first shot in the senior team.

Taylor Hinds

With a lack of full-backs in the England squad, Taylor Hinds is likely to maker her senior England debut in the next two weeks.

Hinds has represented the Lionesses at various different youth levels, but this is her first call-up to the senior team.

The 26-year-old has represented Jamaica in international friendlies in the past and she will have to make a decision on her allegiance before the next major tournament.

The Arsenal defender has featured int he majority of her team’s games this season and despite the Gunners’ dip in form, Hinds has proved to be consistent to start the campaign.

There is only really Alex Greenwood in front of Hinds in the left-back position and with the City captain likely to be played at centre-back due to injuries, Hinds could start both of England’s friendlies.
