Sevilla FC have completed the signing of Patrick Mercado from Independiente del Valle, and Marius Marin could be the next midfield addition targeted by Antonio Cordón.
AS reports the fee for the 22-year-old will be around six million euros, with arrival planned for the summer after the 2026 World Cup. Sevilla must also trim the wage bill and free a non-EU slot.
TEAMtalk says Chelsea FC were the most persistent rival during weeks of talks, while Brighton, Bournemouth and Fulham also enquired.
Cordón has already secured Juan Iglesias on a free from Getafe CF, and further movement is not ruled out.
Next on the agenda could be Marin, the 27-year-old Pisa SC midfielder whose contract expires next summer. He would cost no transfer fee, fitting a near non-negotiable principle in Nervión.
Born in 1998 in Timișoara, he started at his hometown club before moving to Sassuolo at 18, with loans to Catanzaro and Pisa. He joined Pisa permanently in 2019, has played more than 200 games, and helped promotions from Serie C to Serie A. He has become a regular and debuted for Romania.
A defensive pivot, Marin reads play well, wins the ball, and strikes long passes to progress. He offers clean build-up, consistent pressing and tactical balance, making him a name to watch in the coming months.
