Chivas Femenil is about to begin its journey in the 2025 Apertura, as this Sunday, July 13, it will visit the Alfonso Lastras Stadium to play Matchday 1 against Atlético San Luis. Interestingly, that day has special significance for four of our Rojiblancas, as in addition to starting their journey in a new tournament, it brings back fond memories of their time with the Rebaño Sagrado. Celeste Espino, Araceli Torres, Kinberly Guzmán, and Joseline Montoya have fond memories of July 13 since 2018. Want to know why? Here's the story.
It was July 13, but seven years ago, when Chivas Femenil announced at a press conference the arrival of eight players to strengthen the squad ahead of the 2018 Apertura. Among that list, the names of these four Rojiblancas stand out. They arrived full of enthusiasm and talent, and with their tireless work, they managed to write their names in the history of Guadalajara.
Celeste, 'Cheli', Kinberly, and Montoya began working intensely from day one. They managed to exponentially enhance their qualities and earned a place on the team, which allowed them to be part of the Rebaño that was crowned in the 2022 Clausura and later, the Champion of Champions of the Liga MX Femenil.
For these and other reasons, our Rojiblancas will have a very special Sunday, as they will take to the Alfonso Lastras pitch motivated to start the 2025 Apertura on a high note and also celebrate another anniversary with Guadalajara Femenil.
