Why Lens dropped their pursuit of Manchester City’s Juma Bah

The renewal of Juma Bah’s (19) loan from Manchester City had looked like a key target for RC Lens this summer, as they attempt to reinforce their defence following the winter sales of Kevin Danso and Abdukodir Khusanov.

Bah had spent the latter half of the 2024/25 season at Les Sang et Or, where he had quickly impressed. His introduction into the starting lineup helped the club end a four-game losing streak and finish the campaign in 8th (only five points away from the European places).

The hope was that they could convince Manchester City that Bah’s development would be best served back in Lens. However, they could not match the Premier League side’s financial demands. According to a report from La Voix du Nord, the English club wanted a €2 million loan fee, a demand Lens baulked at, considering they would be developing a player that would leave them at the end of the campaign.
