Will Rosenior and Fernandez be at Chelsea next season?

Chelsea slipped to a fourth straight defeat for the first time since 2023, a 3-0 loss at Everton that sharpened questions over Liam Rosenior and Enzo Fernández’s futures.

They are sixth in the Premier League, one place off what is most likely to secure Champions League football, and recent form has dented optimism. According to Hounslow Herald, the hierarchy have publicly backed the 41-year-old head coach.

There is little sign of another managerial churn, and after replacing Enzo Maresca in January, Rosenior is reportedly part of regular transfer planning with Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart.

That steadiness is offset by unease around the club’s record signing. In the mixed zone after the PSG second leg, Fernández was non-committal about his long-term future in West London.

Asked if he would remain to see out the Rosenior project next season, he said: "We will see. In football, things change fast. Right now, I am just sad for the fans."

Fernández is contracted until 2032, but the absence of Champions League football in 2026/27 is a significant hurdle.

Rumours in France and Spain link Real Madrid and PSG as possible destinations, should Chelsea decide to cash in on their £107m asset.

Rosenior has built his approach around Fernández dictating from deep. Losing that midfield hub would force a tactical rethink at a time the club craves consistency.
