Wolverhampton Wanderers have endured a disastrous Premier League season.
They are yet to win a game despite playing 11 times in the English top-flight, sitting at the bottom with just two points.
Wolves pulled the plug on Vitor Pereira’s reign last week, and James Collins and Richard Walker were in charge when they lost 3-0 at Chelsea on Saturday.
Rob Edwards is set to be named as permanent manager, as he has agreed a deal with the Midlands club.
Edwards guided Luton Town to Premier League promotion at the end of the 2022-23 season, but failed to maintain their top-flight status the following campaign.
The former Wales international will now face a huge challenge to keep Wolves in the first division.
The club have not kept a single clean sheet and have scored only seven goals – the lowest in the Premier League.
However, it is not all doom and gloom for Wolves, as this situation is not new for them.
They had recorded only one point in eight games under Gary O’Neil last season, but then picked up eight more points in eight matches before Pereira replaced the Englishman.
The Old Gold eventually avoided relegation by finishing 17 points above the drop zone in 16th.
In the Premier League era, 13 clubs have recorded two points or fewer in their opening eight games of a season. Five of those teams avoided relegation, including Wolves last season.
The Midlands club lost Matheus Cunha, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Fabio Silva and Goncalo Guedes in the summer.
They brought in several quality replacements, but many are still adjusting to the intensity and demands of the English league.
If Wolves are to secure top-flight survival, Edwards must unlock the potential of the squad quickly.
