William Gomes stayed sharp during his break in Brazil, putting in daily work with performance coach Léo Alves ahead of the new season at FC Porto. According to O Jogo, the 20-year-old maintained a structured programme rather than easing off.

Based in his hometown, Aracaju, in Brazil’s Northeast, he enjoyed time with family and friends while keeping the new campaign front of mind. He returns with a markedly different status to a year ago.

Players left Olival with tailored off-season plans, and the winger chose to follow them with daily sessions under Alves’ supervision. The pair have worked together for some time, including a Paris getaway during the longer October break granted by Farioli.

On 15 June, a photo with William highlighted long-term work built on progressive load, with volume and intensity adjusted, and sessions continuing even on holiday.

After early hurdles in 2024/25, he enjoyed a season of growth and finished as his team’s second top scorer with 13 goals, with Samu on 20. He enters the new season more confident than ever, and although linked with moves, an €80m clause reassures the hierarchy as he remains motivated at the Dragão.
