VfL Wolfsburg attackers Kevin Paredes and Lovro Majer have both gone under the knife. On Monday, Germany's green company team confirmed surgery for both professionals. Majer's persistently troublesome ankle and complications with Paredes' metatarsal injury were the causes of the respective procedures.
Majer got off to an excellent start this season, recording a scorer's brace against FC Bayern München on match-day one. Unfortunately for the 34-times-capped Croatian international, an ankle ligament injury on match-day two then kept him sidelined through match-day eight.
Majer returned to Ralph Hasenhüttl's squad recently before having to bow out yet again due to a thigh injury. In their public statement yesterday, the VWers noted that the fact that Majer's ankle never really healed properly led to the decision to operate.
The American Paredes hasn't featured at all for the Lower Saxons this year. The 21-year-old speedster's August injury regrettably derailed what had been a highly-promising burgeoning Bundesliga career. Paredes has already scored four Bundesliga goals in 52 appearances.
The three-times-capped USMNT international ultimately earned a starting role under Niko Kovac last season and recently scored two goals for country whilst on Olympic duty for the USA. Wolfsburg's statement provided no timetable for Paredes' return.
