L’Équipe reports that Wolfsburg have rejected SL Benfica’s initial offer for striker Mohamed Amoura. The Bundesliga outfit remains keen on selling the Algerian international, but is not satisfied with a €28m tender that includes €6m in bonuses. Wolfsburg hope to secure at least €40m for the 33-times-capped international. This is at least less than previously reported on figures suggesting a €50m price tag.
Germany’s northern Autostädter paid just under €15m to acquire Amoura permanently from Union Saint-Gilloise last year. The 25-year-old increased his estimated market value from €16m to €32m whilst scoring 10 goals and adding 12 assists in 31 league appearances for the German Wolves last season. He was also controversially involved in a tussle with a teammate late last year.
Sport Bild reports that Amoura has agreed to personal terms with the Portuguese Premeira League club and wishes to transfer. Wolfsburg are nevertheless keeping a hard line for now. Amoura succumbed to injury in Wolfsburg’s final pre-season friendly and did not feature in Wolfsburg’s opening round Pokal match over the weekend.
