According to Sky Germany, Wolfsburg are exploring a winter move for Brentford defender Kristoffer Ajer and are pursuing NEC Nijmegen striker Kento Shiogai to strengthen defence and attack.

Ajer, 27, is among the candidates for the Lower Saxony club's defence, along with Union Berlin's Danilho Doekhi.

He has logged 1,204 minutes for Brentford this season across the Premier League and EFL Cup.

Shiogai, 20, is a Japanese youth international enjoying a breakout Eredivisie campaign with 7 goals in 12 appearances.

The report added that concrete talks are under way with the forward.
