Nick Woltemade could once again become the focus of FC Bayern’s attention in the upcoming summer transfer window. Just one year after his move to Newcastle United, there are already signs of a possible change of direction for the DFB striker – and that is exactly what Munich are following with great interest
The 24-year-old’s England adventure got off to a very promising start. After moving to the Magpies from VfB Stuttgart for around €75 million, Woltemade initially put in strong performances and quickly played his way to the fore. However, the picture has changed significantly in recent months. Under manager Eddie Howe, the attacking player has increasingly lost his regular place and is now oscillating between the starting eleven and the substitutes‘ bench
This development is apparently also causing dissatisfaction internally. Newcastle are said to be open to a sale in the summer in order to compensate for at least part of the high transfer fee. At the same time, Woltemade himself is also considering a possible departure. According to the portal CaughOffside, he is flirting with a return to the Bundesliga
The name Woltemade is no stranger to Säbener Straße. Bayern made intensive efforts to acquire the attacking all-rounder last summer, but were thwarted by VfB Stuttgart’s high transfer fee demands. It is particularly noteworthy that the player is said to have already agreed to a move to Munich at the time
With this in mind, it is not surprising that Bayern are keeping a close eye on the current situation, according to CaughOffside. The likely departure of on-loan striker Nicolas Jackson has created a new need in the center of the squad. They are looking for a backup for Harry Kane – a profile that Woltemade could basically fulfil

Despite the sporting fit, however, a transfer remains difficult. Newcastle will try to recoup a large part of the sum invested. A transfer fee in the region of 60 to 70 million euros is considered realistic – a sum that FC Bayern is unlikely to pay for a supplementary player
An alternative model could therefore come into focus: a loan with a subsequent option to buy. This structure would suit both sides: Newcastle could save the salary and allow the player to develop further, while Bayern would receive an additional option for the attack without great risk
One thing is clear: Woltemade remains an exciting but complicated case.
