Wolves and Coventry City are reportedly among the clubs considering a move for Sunderland academy graduate Dan Neil ahead of the summer window.
Football League World reports that Wolves are tracking the midfielder as they prepare for life back in the Championship. Neil is due to leave the Stadium of Light at the end of the season when his contract expires, ending a long association with his boyhood club.
Coventry City are reportedly keen on Neil, while Ipswich Town are also said to want a permanent deal after his loan at Portman Road.
Neil joined Ipswich on loan in January 2026 and helped the club win promotion back to the Premier League, taking his tally to three career promotions after Sunderland’s rise from League One to the Premier League.
Born in South Shields and raised a Sunderland supporter, he came through the club’s academy after time with Hebburn Town Juniors.
He made his senior Sunderland debut in the EFL Trophy in November 2018 as a late substitute, then scored his first professional goal in a 2-1 win over Accrington Stanley in September 2021.
That breakthrough season brought the EFL Young Player of the Month award for December 2021, and transfer links with Burnley and Aston Villa, though he remained on Wearside.
