Ukraine started the game on the front foot, forcing goalkeeper Fran into a save inside six minutes.

Garcia almost gave Spain the lead in the 19th minute when he rose to meet a cross, but he directed his header wide.

He opened the scoring five minutes later and continued to look lively after his goal.

Matvii Ponomarenko squandered a chance to level the scoring just before half-time, heading a cross wide of the post.

Ukraine had the first real opportunity after the break, as Daniil Vashchenko unleashed a shot from distance, but it was blocked.

Garcia missed a chance to double Spain’s lead, firing a shot from a rebound over the bar. Both teams created chances in stoppage time, but could not convert.

The teenager has now registered three goal involvements in the competition. He assisted Spain’s only goal against Brazil and scored in the 2-2 draw with Mexico.
