Wolves have reached a verbal agreement to sign free agent Kieran Trippier on a two-year deal with an option of a third, in what would be their first summer addition, according to ExpressAndStar.com.
The 35-year-old, who has left Newcastle United after his final season there, has held talks led by head coach Rob Edwards amid competition from clubs in England and abroad, including Premier League interest.
Trippier is due to undergo a medical once he returns from his post-season break. The move has broadly been welcomed by supporters during a sweeping rebuild.
Wolves plan to be aggressive in the market, with several exits expected as they target experience and leadership. Trippier fits that brief, having captained sides and starred for club and country.
The club have explored a return for striker Raul Jimenez as they rebalance for a Championship promotion push. The Trippier agreement follows Andre signing a new deal until 2030 and committing to stay in the Championship.
Right-back Jackson Tchatchoua is expected to depart after struggling for form following his £10million move last year. Joao Gomes is in talks to join Atletico Madrid, with further departures likely after a dreadful top-flight campaign.
Trippier began at Manchester City before moving to Burnley after loan spells, then spent four years at Tottenham where he made his England breakthrough. He won La Liga with Atletico Madrid in 2020/21 and the Carabao Cup with Newcastle in 2024/25. Capped 54 times between 2017 and 2024, his only England goal was a free-kick against Croatia in the 2018 World Cup semi-final, which ended 2-1.
