Wolves plan to keep Pedro Lima involved in their Championship squad next season, despite loan interest from Brazil. According to ExpressAndStar.com, he will be given the chance to compete for minutes at Molineux.

Atletico Mineiro want the 19-year-old on a season-long loan, potentially with an option to buy. Wolves see him providing cover and competition for new signing Kieran Trippier, so any bid is likely to be rejected.

Lima has made only 16 appearances since joining from Sport Recife two years ago for around £8.5million. He spent the first half of last season at Porto without a first-team outing, and there remains belief he can progress with Trippier’s guidance.

New head coach Cesar Peixoto will assess the defender in pre-season as he shapes a squad aiming for a swift Premier League return, and right-back is not viewed as a recruitment priority after Trippier’s arrival.

Significant changes are expected, with a new first-choice goalkeeper high on the agenda as Jose Sa and Sam Johnstone are likely to leave. Trabzonspor are credited with interest in Sa, though his future is unlikely to be settled before the World Cup.

Wolves have brought forward the Real Sociedad friendly by 72 hours. It was due Tuesday, July 28 at Walsall’s Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium, but will now be Saturday, July 25 with a five pm kick-off. Pre-season starts at Maidenhead United on Wednesday, July 22 at seven thirty pm, then SC Heerenveen on Saturday, August 1 at three pm, a week before the Carabao Cup starts.
