Wolves are interested in Canada midfielder Niko Sigur, with his club side Hajduk Split looking for a £2.5m fee for their key man.
Wolves have begun pre-season training for the 2026/27 campaign, which they hope will end up with a return to the Premier League.
It’s set to be a hectic summer for the Old Gold as they reshape the squad following an embarrassing relegation from the top flight in the previous campaign.
The hierarchy at Molineux have already made some major moves, with Cesar Peixoto named as Rob Edwards’ successor, and they have sealed deals for Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez, with both seen as statement signings.

However, plenty more business is on the cards, and there will be a focus on shifting players out, as the squad is bloated at the moment.
Nevertheless, there are still many areas of the team that Wolves need to address, and it appears they are in the market for a new central midfielder.
That’s after Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas revealed that the Black Country outfit are interested in Hajduk Split and Canada midfielder Niko Sigur.
The 22-year-old joined the Croatian giants in 2022, and he has gone on to make over 100 appearances for the club, as both a defensive midfielder and a right-back.
As well as that, Sigur has won 22 caps for Canada, with his most recent outing coming in their World Cup knockout defeat to Morocco, where he played 87 minutes for Jesse Marsch’s men as they put up a spirited display before losing 3-0.
The update states that Hajduk Split would be seeking a fee of around £2.5m for their player, who was on Wolves’ radar in the January window.
It’s hard to judge Sigur as a player, as the Croatian league will be very different to the demands of the Championship.
Yet, those who saw him play against Morocco will see that Sigur does have ability, as he put in a strong display, even if Canada eventually lost comfortably.
Marsch places great emphasis on running ability, and Sigur was key to the way Canada pressed in the first half, and he was effective with the way he used the ball.

Of course, Wolves have been tracking him for some time, and the fact they were interested in January, and are now looking to go back in for Sigur, suggests he is someone that the recruitment team at Molineux clearly rate.
At £2.5m, this wouldn’t be the blockbuster signing that some want, but Sigur could be a very useful squad player throughout what will be a tough, relentless season.
Plus, his work-rate and willingness to do the dirty side of the game could make him the ideal partner for Andre in Peixoto’s likely 4-2-3-1 formation, with the duo in there to give the attacking four players a platform to perform.
It’s an added bonus that Sigur can play right-back, even if Trippier and Pedro Lima mean there’s no pressing concern for Peixoto in that position going into the new season.
When you consider Sigur’s age and room for development, this could turn out to be a shrewd addition for Wolves if they do pursue him, although fans may expect to see at least two new midfielders through the door before the deadline if Joao Gomes leaves.
