The TV production of France’s 2-1 win over Brazil drew heavy criticism, but World Cup 2026 broadcasts should follow familiar standards. According to L'Équipe, FIFA will rely on a different partner for the tournament.
Viewers questioned the main camera angle and colour balance during and after Thursday’s match, which drew more than 5 million on TF1. The game was produced by an agency hired solely for Les Bleus’ American tour, unrelated to the World Cup setup.
Host Broadcast Services, a FIFA partner since 2002, will handle the World Cup coverage under FIFA’s direct requirements. Around 40 cameras will be used per match, more than for a Champions League final, with directors experienced in elite football.
In France, every game will be shown on beIN Sports, while M6 has bought 54 matches free to air.
The tournament takes place in June and July, and the planned setup should reassure viewers after the friendly.
