Day 10 of the 2026 World Cup delivered a decisive German supersub and a record-setting Curaçao goalkeeper, plus heavy scoring in Group F. Le Progres reports that records fell as France’s next match came under a weather cloud in Philadelphia.
Introduced on 60 minutes, Deniz Undav turned Germany’s 2-1 win over Ivory Coast after trailing by one. The VfB Stuttgart striker struck on 68 from an Amirie cross, then finished again on 94. With three goals and two assists, he has equalled Roger Milla’s 1990 substitute benchmark.
Eloy Room’s 15 saves earned Curaçao a 0-0 draw with Ecuador and the country’s first World Cup point. The Miami FC keeper set the record for most saves in a match without extra time, repeatedly denying Gonzalo Plata, Enner Valencia and Moses Caicedo.
Earlier, the Netherlands thrashed Sweden 5-1, with doubles from Brobbey and Cody Gakpo and a goal by Sommerville, their first win after an opening draw with Japan. Virgil Van Dijk’s side face Tunisia next. Group F also featured Japan’s 4-0 victory over Tunisia.
France meet Iraq on Monday, with heat, rain and thunderstorms forecast in Philadelphia that could force stoppages under protocol. Away from the weather, fan group Irrésistibles Français has urged supporters not to dress the city’s Rocky statue in tricolour, citing a supposed curse.
