Football’s biggest event enters a new financial era

World Cup 2026 poised to shatter all Revenue records
The 2026 World Cup in United States, Canada and Mexico is expected to generate record revenue reaching $10.9 billion.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 is shaping up to become the most profitable edition in the tournament’s history.
The competition, hosted jointly by the United States, Canada and Mexico, will be the first World Cup staged across three countries on the same continent.
According to a report by Sport Value, total revenues are projected to reach $10.9 billion marking unprecedented financial leap for global football.
The report highlights a 56% increase compared to FIFA World Cup 2022 which generated around $7 billion.
The gap is even wider when compared to World Cup 2018 which recorded revenues of $5.3 billion.
This sharp rise reflects the expanded format of the tournament, larger audiences and stronger commercial demand across global markets.
Broadcasting rights are expected to remain the biggest source of income. TV deals are projected to exceed $4.2 billion representing 24% increase compared to the 2022 edition.
Sponsorship revenues are forecast to reach $2.8 billion, a growth of 59% setting new record.
However the biggest jump is expected in ticket sales and hospitality, with revenues estimated at $3 billion. According to the report, this figure alone equals the combined ticket income of the last six World Cups.
