World Cup: Wilfried Singo leaves in tears during Germany v Côte d’Ivoire

Wilfried Singo left the pitch injured late on as Côte d’Ivoire lost 2-1 to Germany in their Group E clash in Toronto, and he could not hide his emotion.

According to L'Équipe, the Galatasaray defender felt an issue at the back of his thigh after another recovery in front of Kai Havertz. He put the ball out, went to ground, and was replaced in the 80th minute by Guéla Doué.

Moments later, cameras showed him in tears on the bench, underlining his frustration and hinting at possible seriousness.

Singo has been among Côte d’Ivoire’s standout performers at this World Cup, strong defensively and the supplier of Amad Diallo’s winner against Ecuador, 1-0.

If he were to miss Thursday’s match against Curaçao at 22:00, and any potential round of 32 for the Elephants, it would be a major blow.
