Wrexham’s stoppage-time turnaround at QPR lifted them into the play-off places and set the tone for a decisive final week in the market.
According to NY Times, the club are pursuing up to three additions and remain in talks with Angers for 19-year-old Sidiki Cherif. Parkinson watched the striker on Sunday, and Angers value him at about £19million, a possible Championship record.
September’s 3-1 home defeat by QPR forced a rethink. A switch to a box midfield at Norwich City brought first starts for Issa Kabore, Ben Sheaf and Dominic Hyam in a 3-2 win.
Saturday’s rematch finished 3-2 to Wrexham, with Josh Windass and Ollie Rathbone scoring in stoppage time to overturn a 2-1 deficit. Parkinson blamed a slow start on the Loftus Road pitch.
Squad management within the EFL’s 25-man limit is shaping decisions. James McClean has rejoined Derry City, Andy Cannon has joined Burton Albion on loan, and Elliot Lee is edging towards a loan before the window shuts on Monday, February 2 at 7pm.
Wing-backs are a priority while Kabore and Liberato Cacace have minutes managed. Parkinson prefers five options and wants one or two more.
Off the pitch, Apollo Sports Capital have invested £47.83million for a 10 per cent stake, largely for the Racecourse Ground redevelopment. A strong finish to the window could further fuel their promotion push.
