The 31-year-old has built a reputation as one of the league’s most reliable strikers. She combines clinical finishing with intelligent movement and an impressive work rate. She is expected to provide both quality and experience to a Palace side looking to continue their progression.

England spent the last three-and-a-half seasons with Tottenham after joining the club in January 2023. During her time in north London, she made 86 appearances and scored 38 goals in all competitions. She became an influential figure both on and off the pitch as captain, helping guide a developing Spurs side through one of the most successful periods in the club’s history.

One of the standout moments of her time at Tottenham came during the 2023/24 season. She captained the club to their first-ever Adobe Women’s FA Cup Final. Although Spurs were beaten by Manchester United, reaching the final marked a historic achievement for the club and further highlighted England’s leadership credentials.

Making her mark with Chelsea

Before joining Tottenham, England enjoyed a hugely successful spell at Chelsea. There, she established herself as one of the WSL’s most prolific goal-scorers. During her time in west London, she won multiple league titles, FA Cups and League Cups. She also consistently contributed goals in both domestic and European competitions.

Her finest individual campaign came during the 2019/20 season, when she scored 21 goals to claim the WSL Golden Boot. That season also saw her named the FWA Women’s Footballer of the Year after playing a key role in Chelsea’s success.

Prior to her spell at Chelsea, England also represented Doncaster Rovers Belles, Barnsley and Liverpool. There, she gained valuable experience that helped shape her into one of England’s leading forwards.

On the international stage, England has represented the Lionesses at senior level, earning 26 caps and scoring 11 goals. She was part of the England squad during several major international tournaments and has regularly been recognised for her ability to make an impact in front of goal.

Bethany England brings experience to Crystal Palace

Bethany England is expected to play a key role for Crystal Palace. Her experience at the highest level gives the Eagles another important option in attack.

Known for her intelligent movement, composed finishing and ability to lead the line, England has consistently delivered goals throughout her career. She is equally capable of playing as a traditional centre-forward or linking play with teammates, making her a versatile addition to Palace’s attacking options.

Beyond her goal-scoring ability, England also brings valuable leadership qualities. Her experience of competing for trophies and performing in high-pressure matches could prove invaluable for a Crystal Palace squad featuring a mix of experienced players and emerging talent.

Palace will hope England’s arrival can add more firepower to the squad as they prepare for a challenging WSL season. Her proven track record suggests she has all the qualities needed to make an immediate impact in south London.

Speaking after completing the move, England said: “It feels great to sign for Crystal Palace. I’m very excited to be here, and looking forward to meeting all the girls and getting started.

Crystal Palace manager Jo Potter also shared their thoughts on the signing, saying: “We are absolutely delighted to have Bethany here at Palace. She has scored goals wherever she has gone, and I am sure she will be crucial for us next season.”

What Bethany England’s signing means for Crystal Palace

The signing of Bethany England is another positive step in Crystal Palace’s summer recruitment. Bringing in a player with experience of winning major honours, scoring goals consistently and performing on the biggest stages underlines the club’s ambition as they continue to build a competitive squad for the new season.

England’s arrival not only strengthens Palace’s attack, but adds experience of competing at the top end of the WSL. Her professionalism, experience and winning mentality are expected to have a positive influence throughout the squad.

Supporters will now be eager to see England pull on the red and blue shirt for the first time as preparations for the 2026/27 campaign continue. If she can reproduce the goalscoring form that has defined much of her career, England could quickly establish herself as one of Palace’s most influential players this season.
