Manchester United signed Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig in a deal worth £74 million last summer.
After his initial struggles under Ruben Amorim, Sesko has found his stride, proving to be an effective tactical outlet for Michael Carrick. He has scored five Premier League goals since the interim head coach’s arrival.
It is still early, but Sesko is starting to show why United spent heavily to secure his services. Now, INEOS are hoping to land another RB Leipzig attacking sensation.
According to SportsBoom, Manchester United and Liverpool will go head-to-head during the summer transfer window for Yan Diomande.
Liverpool view Diomande as a replacement for Mohamed Salah, who has announced he is departing Anfield at the end of the season.
However, United want to sign the Ivorian winger, known for his explosive pace and dribbling ability, to provide “ammunition for former RB Leipzig team mate Sesko, Bryan Mbuemo and Matheus Cunha.”
It is claimed United will hope that Sesko “can make the difference in their pursuit” of the Leipzig left winger.
The Slovenian left the Bundesliga outfit in the same summer Diomande arrived from Leganes in a £20m deal.
It is believed Sesko has plenty of friends still in Leipzig and “will ask them to convince the teenager his preferred choice should be a move to the Theatre of Dreams.”
Meanwhile, the German giants value Diomande at around £80m, a massive price tag given the 19-year-old’s limited experience at the top level.
However, the Ivory Coast international is exactly the kind of winger United need to create width for the likes of Sesko and Bruno Fernandes.
Diomande has been sparking excitement with his immense potential since making his debut at Leganes. According to a report in beIN SPORTS, after watching one of his early highlight videos, someone at the Spanish club said: “Be careful, we might have the new Lionel Messi.”
