RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomandé played down links to PSG at a World Cup press conference on Monday, with Côte d'Ivoire to face Norway in the last 16 on Tuesday at 19:00 in Arlington.
He has informed the Paris hierarchy that he wants to join their project this summer, seen as a prerequisite to any negotiations. Asked about the rumours, he said he was unaware. He does not use the internet or social media, and his agent is speaking with the club.
He added that he does not want to discuss transfers during the tournament, describing the World Cup as a rare chance that comes every four years. He said he wants to make history with his country and give his best.
Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer said: "Yan Diomandé will play for RB Leipzig next year. We will not compromise on that. We know his value. If Yan continues like this, the moment will come to allow him to take a new step, but not this year. I repeat, Yan Diomandé will remain a Leipzig player," he told Bild.
For now, Leipzig’s stance is firm while Diomandé focuses on Côte d'Ivoire’s campaign.
