The rising Ivorian star Yan Diomandé has established himself as one of the Bundesliga's biggest revelations this season, becoming a key player for RB Leipzig thanks to his impressive stats and decisive impact on his team's results.
The Leipzig standout has netted 9 goals and delivered 6 assists in 24 matches, placing him among the top young wingers in Europe right now.
His breakout season hasn't gone unnoticed: several European giants, including Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Paris Saint-Germain, are closely monitoring his progress, while Bayern Munich has recently entered the race for his signature.
In an interview with the German daily Bild, Diomandé revealed that he was on Chelsea's radar but decided not to take that leap at the time.
"A lot of people told me I absolutely had to play for Chelsea. So I stopped and made my own decision. I knew the president of Leganés; he had helped me when I moved to the United States. Suddenly, I was faced with a choice: Leganés or Chelsea? It was risky, but fortunately, it was the right decision."
He added: "I think patience is very important in football. It's not always just about money. If you play well, the rewards will come naturally. I'm young; I need to play to increase my sporting value and to progress. And I couldn't do that sitting on the bench."
