Yuri Alberto goes four months without scoring for Corinthians

After recovering from surgery, Yuri Alberto returned as a starter for Corinthians in the match against Sport. Like Timão, the player did not score in the game, completing a four-month goal drought, encompassing nine matches played by the number 9.

The last time Yuri Alberto scored for Corinthians was in the decisive match against Novorizontino, during the third phase of the Copa do Brasil. On that occasion, the forward scored the winning goal that secured the team's advancement to the round of 16 – currently, Timão is in the semifinals.

Yuri started the year on a high after finishing 2024 as the top scorer of the Brasileirão and Corinthians for the season. However, he has been struggling with injuries and physical issues – something that hadn't happened in previous years with Timão. Since May, he has suffered a vertebra injury and an inguinal hernia.

Despite the period without scoring, the number 9 remains the top scorer for Corinthians this season. He has scored 13 goals in 43 matches, averaging 0.3 per game. This number is higher than in 2022, when he played only half a season and scored 11 times in 29 matches. In 2023, he scored 15 goals in 63 appearances, having the lowest average until then.
