Zesiger strives for winter transfer: "Not satisfactory at the moment."

As is often the case on VfL Wolfsburg's typically oversized roster, several players representing Germany's green company team will find themselves dissatisfied with their lack of playing time. This year,  Dortmund loanee Salih Özcan (only three starts in 12 deployments) has already voiced his discontent with his current situation.

In central defense, four-times-capped Swiss international Cedric Zesiger currently serves as the odd-man-out. After earning six straight starts (one in the cup and five in the opening league rounds) under trainer Ralph Hasenhüttl, the 26-year-old has only been called upon twice off the bench.

The success of VfL defensive duo of Konstantinos Koulierakis and Denis Vavro renders it unlikely that Zesiger can find his way back into the XI without an injury. Reflecting on a future in German football that now doesn't conform with his early expectations, the player admitted as much in a recent interview.

“I moved to Wolfsburg to play," Zesiger noted in an online video  interview with Switzerland's 'blue sport'. “That's why it's not satisfactory at the moment. If that's the way it's supposed to be, I can live with it and look for my luck somewhere else. It will become clear in the next few weeks which direction I should head in.”
