There is no doubt that the start of this 2024-25 season has been far from what the Real Madrid fans were expecting.
After winning the La Liga and the UEFA Champions League titles in the last season, the Merengues were expected to start this season in an even stronger fashion, especially with the arrival of Kylian Mbappe, but the team’s performances and results up to now have been very underwhelming.
Several players are performing well below their expected standards, contributing to this low performance from the team in general. One such player is Aurelien Tchouameni, who is not having a third season to remember at Real Madrid.
Owing to these below-par performances, Mundo Deportivo reports that a part of the decision-makers at Real Madrid are considering his departure.
Such a thing was unthinkable in the past, but his poor performances, coupled with his high market value, have led the club to consider such a path very seriously. He is currently valued at €100 million, and big clubs like Liverpool and PSG were reportedly interested in him in the past.
Carlo Ancelotti has made it clear that Tchouameni is an essential part of his system, as he is one of the best pivots in football today. However, it is also clear that Ancelotti has warned him several times already this season, most prominently in the game against Celta Vigo in which Eduardo Camavinga was played in midfield and Tchouameni in the defence.
Thus, Tchouameni’s status at Real Madrid is changing, especially as the club has been more satisfied with the performances and growth of Eduardo Camavinga. Furthermore, they have also been linked with the Manchester City midfielder Rodri.
But still, Tchouameni remains one of the best players in his position today. He might not be going through his best form yet, but it still remains quite early to see him parting ways with the club.
