With Mo Salah likely to depart after the end of the season, Federico Chiesa facing an uncertain future, there is a good chance Liverpool are going to be in the market for new wide players.
Long-term there are still question marks over Cody Gakpo, so this plan to reinforce the attack could stretch into 2027.
And when it inevitably does, there is already a player destined to join Liverpool who has been on the club's radar.
Liverpool monitored Rayan at Vasco Da Game after he scored 25 goals in a calendar year for the Brazilian side's senior team.
The Reds had the opportunity to make a move for him but decided against it. Ultimately, it was Bournemouth who secured his services and lured him to the Premier League with the attractive offer of playing for Andoni Iraola's side and replacing Semenyo for the Cherries.
It's early days but Rayan has lived up to those expectations so far. The Brazilian registered an assist on his debut in a brief cameo. He then scored on his first start and made yet another statement on his second start for the club scoring against Everton on Tuesday night.
All the goals have been impressive as well. A nice finish with his right foot followed by a towering leap to head it into the back of the net. Not to mention an assist taken with his left-foot.
It just highlights the special talent Rayan has. He is completely unpredictable and it's no surprise that as per Fabrizio Romano, Bournemouth inserted a €100m release clause into his contract.
At this rate, that release clause is going to be a bargain and Liverpool are destined to activate it.
The club desperately need a player of Rayan's ilk. The scouting department liked him in Brazil, they will like him even more now.
And who knows by 2027, that release clause may not even be that much for a Premier League proven attacker with such a prolific record.
Right now, it just feels like destiny that Rayan will end-up at Anfield.
