Las Palmas are facing a very tricky situation with Alvaro Valles. The 26-year-old was one of the standout goalkeepers in La Liga last season, but he’s unlikely to ever play for the club again because he does not intend to sign a new contract – his current deal expires in 2025.
They had hoped to solve the problem over the weekend, after accepting a €10m offer from Marseille. However, Marca have reported that Valles turned the Ligue 1 giants down, as he has his heart set on a return to Real Betis.
Las Palmas president Miguel Angel Ramirez has already confirmed that Valles will not play at all next season if he does not renew, and it seems that he is prepared to sit out the 2024-25 campaign if needs be. His desire is to re-sign for Betis, whom he left in 2018.
Currently, Betis’ offer soes not come close to Marseille’s, so Las Palmas have no intention of selling. They may have to drop their asking price in order to cash in on Valles – there’s no doubt that Los Verdiblancos have the upper hand in negotiations.
