Joe Dodds scored

Jimmy McGrory scored a hat-trick

TWO – SATURDAY 11 JANUARY 1936 – Celtic are without the injured Jimmy Delaney, but this does not seem to cause any particular bother as they turn it on and defeat Queen of the South 5-0 today at Parkhead. The goal scoring machine of Jimmy McGrory scores another hat-trick, and the other goals come from Johnny Crum and Frank Murphy. Confidence is rising that this year could see the first Scottish League Championship for a decade.

Stevie Chalmers scored against Eyemouth…

THREE – SATURDAY 11 JANUARY 1964 – Eyemouth pay their first ever visit to Parkhead to meet Celtic in the Scottish Cup. The 0-0 score line at half-time raises a few eyebrows, but in the second-half two goals from Steve Chalmers and one from Charlie Gallagher do the trick. The 17,000 fans give Eyemouth a better reception at full-time than they do Celtic, for this has been a Celtic performance that was only competent.

FOUR – SATURDAY 11 JANUARY 1986 – Celtic and Aberdeen draw 1-1 at Parkhead in front of 31,305 spectators. Joe Miller opens the scoring for the Dons in the 10th minute but Peter Grant replies a few minutes later. Both teams then have a few chances but managers Davie Hay and Alex Ferguson agree that a draw was a fair result in what is this year a very open Championship race with Hearts and Dundee United both very much in contention as well.

SIX – 11 JANUARY 1997 –  Jorge Cadete scored both Celtic goals at Tynecastle as Tommy Burns’ exciting Celtic side got the better of Hearts with a 2-1 victory. Cadete’s goals took him to 20 for the season as the league’s top scorer, with Simon Donnelly getting two assists.

SEVEN – MONDAY 11 JANUARY 2021 – An extremely difficult night for Celtic as they draw 1-1 with Hibs at home, but they are under a great deal of flak for having gone on a trip to Dubai (after losing to theRangers at the New Year) when most of the country is under lockdown because of the Coronavirus pandemic. This was insensitive at best and foolish at worst, and 13 of their staff were ordered to self-isolate on their return. Gavin Strachan is in charge of the team, David Turnbull scores a good goal, but Hibs score a late equaliser at the end. Celtic’s troubles are all of their own making!
