Leicester City face a major League One rebuild under Russell Martin as they aim for an immediate return. Double-figure exits are possible and several positions need work.
The club must now operate under League One’s Salary Cost Management Protocol, which limits wage spend. According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, City complied last season and view the SCMP positively.
In goal, Jakub Stolarczyk has one year left and interest from Wieczysta Krakow, while Martin prefers a ball-playing keeper. Gavin Bazunu, who worked with him at Southampton, could be an option after Southampton signed two goalkeepers.
Ricardo Pereira’s exit leaves 19-year-old Bade Aluko as the only natural right-back, so an experienced, attack-minded rival is likely to be sought.
Centre-back changes are anticipated, with several senior defenders tipped for moves and Harry Souttar’s World Cup displays potentially boosting his value.
Luke Thomas is set to start at left-back, with Victor Kristiansen expected to depart and Panathinaikos reportedly negotiating a deal with ex-boss Jakub Nistrup.
In midfield, Louis Page, 18 in July, could lead. Skipp and Winks may go, Smallbone and Wintle are options, with Braybrooke and Alves returning.
Out wide, Abdul Fatawu has been linked with a £15m move to Besiktas, his World Cup involvement could delay a sale, and Jeremy Monga is being pursued by Arsenal. With wingers central to Martin’s approach, replacements would be needed.
Up front, a prolific senior number nine is a priority after Patson Daka and Jordan Ayew struggled. Jake Evans offers depth, and Martin tends to favour England-based, British-core recruitment.
