Five memorable Celtic moments, with a nod to the late Celtic Historian and Celtic Star legend David Potter,  on this day in Celtic’s proud and unbroken history…

ONE – SATURDAY 13 NOVEMBER 1915 – Without Sunny Jim Young, Celtic lose 0-2 to Hearts at Tynecastle. It was a depressing day, but there would not be too many depressing days for a while. The next game lost would be nearly18 months in the future in March 1917!

TWO – SATURDAY 13 NOVEMBER 1920 – Patsy Gallacher and Joe Cassidy score the two goals which beat Kilmarnock at Celtic Park today. In truth, it should have been five. In the meantime more and more results are coming in from the Poll in Scotland about alcohol, and it is clear that there will be a big majority in favour of “No Change” and that Scotland, with a few exceptions, will stay “wet”. In Ireland a major battle is taking place in Tralee between Sinn Fein and the British Army Auxiliary forces, now commonly known as the Black and Tans.

THREE – SATURDAY 13 NOVEMBER 1965 – A fine performance today at Muirton Park, Perth over St Johnstone, a team that Celtic have often struggled against in the past. Celtic win 4-1 with two goals from Joe McBride and one each from John Hughes and Jimmy Johnstone. Last season the Perth men won home and away, but things have changed.

FOUR – WEDNESDAY 13 NOVEMBER 1968 – A great night of European Cup football for the 67,000 fans at Celtic Park as Celtic in their all green strip, devastate Red Star Belgrade 5-1 with goals from Bobby Murdoch, Willie Wallace, Bobby Lennox and two from Jimmy Johnstone. Jimmy Johnstone, with his chronic fear of flying, has negotiated a deal with Jock Stein that in the event of a substantial Celtic victory he would not be obliged to go to the return leg in Belgrade. Jimmy runs off the field at the end shouting “I’ll no’ need tae go!”

FIVE – SATURDAY 13 NOVEMBER 2004 – Recent experiences against Inverness Caledonian Thistle have not necessarily always been pleasant ones, so it was all the more gratifying to defeat them 3-0 today at Celtic Park with two goals from John Hartson and one from Chris Sutton. It also gave the team a much needed boost after a desperately unlucky 1-2 extra time defeat to Rangers in the Scottish League Cup quarter final in midweek.
