Athletic return on 8 July at Lezama after medicals, with a bloated group under Edin Terzic. According to El Correo, early cuts are likely as 14 players chase appearance milestones.

Unai Simón, Yeray Álvarez, Yuri Berchiche, Mikel Vesga and Álex Berenguer could all reach 300 games. Simón and Yeray are on 264, Yuri is 22 short, Berenguer 262, while Vesga’s future is uncertain and in two months he marks 10 years since his debut against Sporting.

Nico Williams stands at 199 and, fitness permitting, should reach 200 on opening day. Tied to 2035 with a clause around €90m, he has 37 goals, a Copa and Euro 2024 on his CV.

Dani Vivián is 10 away and Gorka Guruzeta 19 after a 17-goal league season. Despite an uneven year, Vivián remains part of a trusted centre-back unit with Laporte, Yeray and Paredes.

Beñat Prados sits on 80 after knee surgery, with Unai Vencedor 82, Julen Agirrezabala 65 and Andoni Gorosabel 64. The midfield is crowded, exits are expected, Vencedor returns from Levante, and Agirrezabala hits five years since debut in August, Serrano in September, while Ruiz de Galarreta reaches 15 years on 14 December against PSG.

Separately, Madrid’s Provincial Court rejected Real Madrid and Athletic’s appeal over La Liga’s 2021 CVC deal, confirming a February 2024 ruling. Real Madrid will go to the Supreme Court, Athletic offered no comment.
