An important win over Crystal Palace last night lifted Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg to second in the Europa Conference League table as their good season continues.

Liam Rosenior has shaken off the loss of key players from last season and continued building, and both domestically and in Europe the Alsatians look strong. Meanwhile, their £157m stadium reconstruction is almost finished, as they continue into a bright new era.

Liam Rosenior in a Strasbourg press conference.

It was a good moment for club president Marc Keller to speak then, knowing that the mood is good. In quotes picked up by the BBC he spoke on a variety of topics, including some heady praise for Rosenior

“Liam is playing top football and we are playing with a young team, so they have space to play,” Keller explained.

“BlueCo knew him from England and when I met him he was clear about what he wanted to set up in Strasbourg – and what he said is exactly what is happening now.”

If Rosenior carries on having this sort of success, the problem will start to become about how BlueCo stop other teams from poaching him. If they keep investing in Strasbourg, that is a great start to keeping him there. He was linked to the likes of Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, but it’s hard to see him going anywhere while his current team are on such a strong upwards trajectory.

In other Arsenal news…

Despite Chelsea’s good form going into the game, things aren’t totally in their favour – one stats site reckons Arsenal have 5 of the 10 most in form Premier League players in their team.

Cole Palmer is confirmed to be fit, and the prospect of him playing regularly with Estevao is now on the horizon… we couldn’t get much more excited.
