While FC Barcelona were able to successfully defend their league title last season, their B team, Barca Atletic, also came close to getting promoted to the Primera Federacion, but were unable to do so as they fell in the promotion play-offs.

Next season, several players from the reserve team would have their futures somewhat uncertain, as up to 11 of these players have their contracts ending in 2027. However, the continuity of Juliano Belletti as the team’s head-coach is assured for now.

One of the players who contract is ending next year is the forward Toni Fernandez, who is already receiving interest from the likes of Alaves and Sevilla. However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the player is currently thinking only about the start of the preseason training under Hansi Flick on 13th July, and seizing this opportunity in the best possible way.

The young forward, who was also a part of the preseason tours of China and South Korea with the first team last year, has not yet received any offers of a renewal from the Catalan club. He is among the players who made their first team debuts under Hansi Flick, as he did so in January 2025, at the age of 16 years, 5 months, and 17 days, being only second to Lamine Yamal as the youngest player in the club’s history to make his debut with the first team.

After the preseason, Toni Fernandez is planning to continue his journey with Barcelona Atletic, especially as he understands how fierce the competition is for a spot in the first team. But, unlike his teammate Dani Rodriguez, he is currently looking to continue only with the Blaugrana club, even though his way to the first team is not too clear, and he might have to wait for some years before taking this step.
