Despite being separated by two divisions in the German football pyramid, tensions rage on between arch rivals Bayern Munich and 1860 Munich

During Bayern's 6-2 win over SC Freiburg on Saturday, a strongly worded banner was unfurled by the home support directed at 1860 Munich's president Gernot Mang.

“FC Bayern personally insulted me. That's far from respectful. Calling me a son of a b**** crosses a line. That's completely unacceptable. I'd like to leave it at that.

"A little bit of friendly banter is part of the relationship between the two clubs, but it should be within a certain limit, on a certain level.

“This kind of behavior isn't right. However, I won't take legal action against it. I'll rise above that,” said Mang, speaking with Magenta TV.

The banner read: “Mang has to earn respect. You son of a b****.”

Just a few days earlier, during an event at the Deutsches Theater, the 1860 chief launched a scathing attack on the Bavarian giants from the Bundesliga.

Mang criticized, among other things, Bayern's lack of modest nature: “A little humility would do the club good.”

He also described Bayern as a "commercial club, run like an American business — it's not about atmosphere, but simply about money.”
