Bobby Manzi reports that Dan Casey’s proposed move to Crystal Palace is off, as it stands, following the expiry of the player’s Arsenal contract this summer.
Manzi writes that there was complete agreement across all sides, but Palace pulled the plug at the last minute. The journalist adds that there’s no injury, so the medical seemingly wasn’t the problem, and the player had also agreed personal terms.
What happens next is unclear, but this will have been a frustrating few months for the 18-year-old.

After 20 goals for the Arsenal u18s last season, Casey’s scholarship contract came to an end this summer, but the Gunners made him an offer to extend by signing professional terms.
The teenager delayed on accepting while he explored his options, which included offers from Crystal Palace and Norwich City.
Ultimately, he decided to sign for Palace, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Palace and Arseanl had agreed on a compensation package and a medical was booked for September 9th.
Given his age and the offer on the table from Arsenal, Casey was only free to sign for a new club if they paid fair compensation to the Gunners. The two clubs could either agree a fee themselves, or go to a tribunal.

Arsenal and Palace opted for the former route, agreeing a compensation package, only for the buying club to pull out. It’s unclear exactly why Palace made that decision.
The teenager always has the option to return to Arsenal and accept the contract offer on the table. For the time being, Casey remains without a club.
